What Type of RV should I choose?

Travel Trailer

Travel Trailer – This is one of the most common RVs. A Travel Trailer can be pulled by most vehicles from a Car, Van, SUV, or Truck, depending on the size of the trailer. Travel Trailers have a broad range of sizes, prices, and features, so the choices to choose from are endless.

Fifth Wheels

Fifth Wheel –This RV can only be towed by a truck with a Fifth Wheel hitch which is installed in the bed of the truck. It does have some advantages over a Travel Trailer, it has taller ceilings and sometimes more slide out rooms. Although it is larger you are limited to which floor plans you can choose.

Toy Hauler

Toy Hauler – Also known as a Sport-Utility RV(SURV) is an RV meant to hall many different “toys” such as ATVs, Dirt Bikes, Motorcycles, Jet Skis, Snowmobiles, and other small vehicles or watercrafts. A Toy Hauler can be towed as a Travel Trailer or a Fifth Wheel depending on which tow vehicle you have.

Expandables

Expandables – This RV is considered a Travel Trailer Hybrid, it is a hard sided Travel Trailer with the fold down ends like the Pop-up camper. These are RVs are smaller than most Travel Trailers but include many of the same great amenities as a normal Travel Trailer. They are great for families with smaller to mid-size tow vehicles such as Cars, Vans, and SUVs.

What is a Floorplan Style?

A floorplan is how the interior of the trailer is laid out. Travel Trailers have the most styles for floor plans, and the Fifth Wheels have very limited floorplan styles because of the structure of the unit.

Travel Trailer Floorplan Styles

  • Bunkhouse – This floorplan style includes bunk beds somewhere within the RV. Some RVs include a room with double bunk beds. This floorplan is great for families with kids or a family that needs more sleeping room.

  • Two Entry/Exit Doors – This floorplan has two doors on the RV. Usually you will find one door that enters into a bedroom from the outside and the other somewhere in the middle of the RV. This is great for families with kids. The kids can sleep in the living room or dining room but the parents can enter into their bedroom directly from the other entry door without waking the kids.
